Ecological music?
Apr 26th
The following guest post, by Benjamin Gleeson, a fellow student of ecology, stimulates us to think beyond our immediate ‘known environment’ and challenges our understanding of the relationships between of all forms of energy.
Ecological music
Indeed, may we ask, are all things created equal?
What do you think?
Many people play music to plants and animals to affect their growth and development.
Would music played to a farmer affect the development of that farmer?
In Eco Ag, we take it as self-evident that development of farmers affects the development of the farm. Development (change) within the farm environment affects the development of the food and fibre produced. The qualities of our food and fibre affect consumers and therefore society and culture. The relational web is infinite well beyond this description and is in constant flux.

This is a link to ‘Woodstock’ a Joni Mitchell song, here performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.
“We are Stardust, we are Golden, we are billion year old Carbon, and we’ve got to get ourselves back to the Garden.”
Music often promotes a ‘transcendent’ response or emotional state.
Can music promote ecological awareness and perception? Could we use music to promote our ecological learning?
We listen to all sorts of music. Does anyone else identify particular music/songs which they relate More >
